Choosing a wedding photographer

I was just interviewed by Arizona Weddings Magazine for an upcoming issue! I've been asked this question a lot so I thought it was worth sharing my advice here.

"What advice do you have for couples booking a wedding photographer?"

A great rapport between a couple and their photographer is very important!

To make sure that you select a photographer that has a style that compliments your taste, ask to look at a whole wedding, from the shots of the bride and groom getting ready to the candid reception photos. Just looking at the photographer’s selected “top ten” does not allow you to see what your end product will be.

Make sure that there is a mix of photos including contemporary, traditional, candid and innovative photos. This will ensure that your special day is captured in its entirety.

Most importantly -make sure the photographer demonstrates the ability to capture the emotion and essence of your wedding day events as they unfold.
Your mother looking at you in only the way a mother can . . .
Grandpa crying as he gives a toast
The mischievous ring-bearer trying to kiss the flower girl . . .
The groom's face as he sees his beautiful bride for the first time . . .
These are moments that not everyone gets to see. To be able to look back at your photos and see that someone caught them on film is the greatest gift of all and worth every penny of your investment!
